Students Urged to Practice Keep Fit and Hygienic Living Culture

Students in Ghana have been advised to cultivate habits that will make them safe and live longer as well as make the nation a better place to live.

Addressing the media after the launch of the 6th edition of the Schools Sanitation Inspection Tour at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams, president of One on One Foundation said for a nation to be healthy, there must be health kids and youth who are fit.

He therefore suggested regular fitness training, intake of quality balanced diet, keeping neat and hygienic environment to reduce medical bills.

Olla Williams who is also CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus and youth coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) hinted that they spice sports to the sanitation by organizing aerobics and some games to make the students happy, smart and fit, aside the scrubbing, cooking and debate competitions.

He noted that 26 senior high schools from the 16 regions over the country have been selected for the year 2020, and commended Unilever for sponsoring the programme.

“We want to build the spirit of cleanness in the students for it to grow in them to become healthy citizens” he stressed.

Member of Parliament for Techiman, Hon. Henry Yiadom Boakye who graced the launch to represent the Legislature of Ghana said sanitation is a problem in the country which everyone must get involved in to solve.

He noted that it is an ideal initiative to use students in the forefront in the fight against insanitary conditions.
“The students are our future leaders, and we need leaders who know what is it to live in a clean environment as well as practice personal hygiene” he expressed.

Mr. Henry Malm, corporate affairs manager of Unilever said they are interested in initiative that make people healthy and their quality products can solve the sanitation challenges of the nation.
