The political tension in the Suhum constituency of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, continues to escalate.
The renewed tension has been triggered by the ongoing internal elections of the party.
A group calling itself NPP Concerned Youths of Suhum have called on President Akufo-Addo to take immediate and appropriate steps to call his representative “the MCE” Hon. Margaret Darko to order for undermining the Member of Parliament Oboafo Kwadwo Asante.
Addressing a press conference in Suhum, the group accused the Municipal Chief Executive Margaret Darko of using public properties and funds to advance her parochial political interest.
According to the leader of the group, Mr. Samuel Baah alias Gosh, the MCE is using her official residence to hatch a parliamentary ambition of a presidential staffer Frank Asiedu Bekoe popularly known as “protozoa”.
He also accused the MCE of using resources meant to support the disabled in the constituency to finance this political agenda of the presidential staffer.
Mr. Samuel Baah revealed that in the just ended NPP Polling Station and Electoral area coordinators elections, the MCE distributed items such as hairdryers, sewing machines, pieces of clothes, spraying machines, and amount of money to induce electorates to influence the outcome of the party’s internal elections.
The group explained that the MCE instead of projecting and communicating the development going on in the constituency, she rather incites the people against the MP who are the representative of the people and for that matter voted for.
The group further accused the presidential staffer Frank Asiedu Bekoe popularly known as protozoa, that a team he formed including some hired NDC supporters were seen in the open sharing fifty cedis each to all who have queued up to vote in the polling station elections.
Therefore the group led by Mr. Samuel Baah feared that if the actions of the MCE and the presidential staffer were not stopped, it will disturb the peace of the party and will affect the fortunes of the party in the Suhum constituency.
He said, “the group is hereby sending a strong signal to the leadership of the NPP caucus in parliament and the office of the chief of staff as well as the presidency that they are tired of the happenings going on in the constituency and that from next week 28th March 2022 will walk to the parliament house and pull the Suhum MP Hon. Oboafo Kwadjo Asante out of parliament to counter the weird situation currently going on in the constituency”
Some of the angry youths also roared out their dissatisfactions and displeasure of the happenings in the constituency, saying the actions of the MCE and the presidential staffer indicates that government is wealthy enough to develop the Suhum constituency and the country at large without forcing Ghanaians to pay the e- levy, but for them, they will not pay the e-levy looking at the lifestyle and the profligate spendings of the accused chief of staff Mr. Frank Asiedu Bekoe popularly known as protozoa.
They said the MCE has disrespected all the party members and the Chiefs of Suhum, thereby neglecting them and pursuing the parliamentary ambition of Frema Opare and her cohorts in the constituency.
