Madam Elizabeth Kwatseo Tawiah Sackey, the new Mayor for the Accra Metropolitan Assembly has noted that there is a lot of work to be done; therefore, this is a clarion call for all to come on board to build Accra.
She called for all stakeholders, especially former mayors unflinching support, adding that, “Together, we shall confront all our challenges head-on, taking into consideration our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.”
Speaking after securing 30 ‘Yes’ votes from all the Assembly members, representing a hundred percent endorsement in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) in Accra, Madam Sackey was a former Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the Okaikoi North constituency thanked the President for considering her for the Assembly.
She hails from Asere-Accra in the Greater Accra Region and was born on May 6, 1958.
An economist, she holds a Certificate in marketing which she obtained in 2003. As a banker, she worked with Ghana Commercial Bank as Chief Clerk before becoming an MP.
She is a Christian and fellowships with the Church of Pentecost and is married with four children.
She is the first female Metropolitan Chief Executive for the Metropolitan Assembly.
