There is a significant increase in annual patronage to public libraries across the country.
Visits to Libraries have jumped from 420,000 visits recorded in 2016 to over 1 Million visits recorded in 2019, the Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Hayford Siaw has revealed.
He attributed the high patronage to a major investment made by the government which has led to the massive transformation of public libraries.
He said many libraries have been renovated and furnished with e-learning facilities making it more attractive to visitors.
Hayford Siaw said this in an interview with Bryt FM News Central Regional Correspondent Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah when the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon Alexander Afenyo Markin Commissioned and handed over eleven (11) Libraries he has built in the constituency to Ghana Library Authority.
He urged parents to take advantage of the facilities to help encourage their children to develop a love for reading to enhance their academic performance.
The MP for Effutu Alexander Afenyo Markin also commissioned two. Ultra- Modern 20 Seater Toilet Facility at Sankor, a Community Center for residents of Wonsom, and also donated a 24 full set of Spinning Machines to the Winneba Spinners Association at Sekagyano.
