Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen believes his side is almost through to the World Cup after a stalemate against Ghana in Kumasi.
The Super Eagles will play host to the Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday after a pulsating goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium last Friday.
Ahead of the return leg, Augustine Eguavoen says they are close to achieving their World Cup qualification target after sharing the spoils in Kumasi.
“In high spirits, we are more than halfway through, the boys know it.
“I had a word with them a while ago, you know I doff my hat for them, and I’ll continue to do that because they were resilient.
“They worked hard in such an atmosphere, so I think it was a fair result. It was a very good result we got, not fair,” he said.
Nigeria arrived back in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday morning after Friday’s game and has intensified their training in the quest to beat Ghana in the second leg and qualify on Tuesday.
With the 0-0 draw in the first leg, a win would be enough to secure Nigeria’s place at the World Cup finals.
Meanwhile, Ghana needs a scoring draw or a win to eliminate their West African rivals and reach Qatar.
The game will take place at the 60,000 capacity Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
