The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Yilo Krobo, Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey, has described the establishment of a 24-hour economy market as a major step toward boosting economic growth and creating jobs within the municipality.
Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekyee Musem Morning Show on Bryt FM, Hon. Akumatey said the initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen local commerce, increase productivity, and provide sustainable employment opportunities, especially for the youth.
According to the MCE, the proposed market system will enable businesses to operate beyond regular working hours, enhance trading activities, and improve access to goods and services throughout the day and night.
“The 24-hour economy market is key to unlocking the economic potential of Yilo Krobo. It will create opportunities for businesses to thrive beyond traditional working hours and contribute significantly to local revenue generation,” he stated.
Hon. Akumatey noted that the initiative is in line with national development strategies focused on promoting continuous economic activity and reducing unemployment.
He assured residents that the Municipal Assembly is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure, security, and regulatory measures to ensure the successful implementation and smooth operation of the market.
The MCE further appealed to traders, investors, and community members to support the initiative to guarantee its long-term success and impact on the development of the municipality.
He expressed confidence that the proposed 24-hour economy market will transform Yilo Krobo into a vibrant commercial hub, promote inclusive growth, and improve livelihoods across the municipality.
