Broadcast journalist, Obeng Samuel also known in the media space as Kwahu Dehyie, has called on the authorities of Lincoln University to issue a public apology to President John Dramani Mahama and the state following the University’s reported decision to snub the President over his stance against the LGBTQ+ community in Ghana.
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, he emphasized that the university’s decision to postpone the program without providing a clear explanation is unacceptable.
Mr. Obeng questioned the university’s position on LGBTQ+ matters, speculating that their choice might have been influenced by outside forces. He believes that the institution would not have originally intended to recognize the president if they did not share his opinions.
“There is a pressure somewhere, it could be local or international pressure so Lincoln University should apologize to President Mahama and Ghana.” He emphasized.
He has said that the university conducted a critical analysis of the president and found that he deserves to be honored, so why will they cancel the president’s visit due to unforeseen circumstances?
“President Mahama is not an ordinary person; rather, he is the head of a Republic, thus you cannot simply post on your website the reason you wish to honor him and then leave it empty after organizing a program that was unsuccessful. If not for our embassy, we wouldn’t have known the reason for the cancellation which is really bad and disrespectful”. He added.
