Yaw Osafo-Maafo, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Senior Presidential Advisor under the Akufo-Addo administration, has cautioned that if the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not fulfill its campaign pledges, it could lose the next general election.
He claims that Ghanaians will evaluate the government’s performance and may vote against the party if their expectations are not fulfilled.
In an interview with the media in Akyem Oda, Eastern Region, Mr. Osafo-Maafo said he was confident that if the NDC didn’t live up to its promises, voters wouldn’t think twice about rejecting it.
If the party fails to satisfy the electorate, he predicted that it would be “uprooted like mushrooms” in the next election.
Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, has characterized the high turnout at the NPP’s constituency elections as proof of the party supporters’ renewed determination to reorganize and win back power in 2028.
He claimed that the grassroots’ enthusiasm shows their resolve to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s presidential candidate, and work toward the party’s revival.
In order to accomplish the party’s political goals prior to the upcoming general election, the MP urged unity among party members, emphasizing that cohesiveness and commitment will be essential.
