The Head of Office and UNESCO Representative to Ghana, Mr. Edmond Moukala, has reaffirmed UNESCO’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s Artificial Intelligence journey through its AI Readiness Assessment Methodology.
Speaking at the Ghana AI Summit and Awards in Accra, Mr. Moukala said the AI journey is unique to every country, and UNESCO has developed the Readiness Assessment tool to help governments evaluate their preparedness to adopt AI responsibly.
“AI journey is unique. We also developed the AI Readiness Assessment Methodology,” he stated.
He explained that the tool supports governments in evaluating preparedness across key areas including legal, constitutional, ethical, economic and ideological frameworks.
“AI readiness assessment helps countries to identify strengths and address gaps,” Mr. Moukala added.
The summit, held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence for Economic Growth and Job Creation”, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and tech experts to discuss the future of Ghanaian workers and the competitiveness of Ghanaian industry in the digital world.
Mr. Moukala noted that as Ghana positions itself for a digital future, assessing readiness will be critical to ensuring that AI adoption leads to inclusive growth, job creation, and ethical governance.
