The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), through its Labour Exchange Programme, has officially launched the National Labour Migration Readiness Campaign, a nationwide sensitization initiative aimed at educating Ghanaians particularly the youth on the dangers and consequences of illegal migration while promoting safe, legal, and regulated pathways to overseas employment.
The launch brought together key stakeholders and was graced by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, Esq., both of whom reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to creating decent employment opportunities and ensuring that labour migration is undertaken through legal and secure channels.
Addressing the Media, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency emphasized the devastating impact of illegal migration on Ghana’s youth, highlighting the risks of exploitation, human trafficking, and unsafe working conditions. He reiterated YEA’s unwavering commitment to providing young Ghanaians with credible opportunities to work abroad through the Agency’s Labour Exchange Programme, ensuring that migration is safe, dignified, and beneficial.
The nationwide sensitization roadshow forms part of YEA’s broader efforts to equip prospective migrant workers with the knowledge and information needed to make informed decisions while strengthening public awareness on legal migration pathways.
This important initiative is being implemented in partnership with GIZ, Absa Bank Ghana, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), reflecting a shared commitment to promoting safe migration and protecting the future of Ghana’s workforce.
