NADMO has warned residents in the North East Region to prepare for possible flooding following notification that Burkina Faso will begin spilling the Bagre Dam on Tuesday, August 11.
The increased water flow into the White Volta and its tributaries could raise water levels in flood-prone communities.
Residents, farmers, fishermen and herdsmen in vulnerable areas have been urged to move to safer locations, secure their belongings and avoid river channels and floodplains.
NADMO says public education and monitoring have been intensified across affected communities.
