Paul Yandoh, the immediate past Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says the support he received from members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after losing the Regional Secretary election surprised him.
According to him, expected members of his own party to stand by him after the election defeat, especially after he had sacrificed his personal resources for the NPP campaign and was left financially devastated.
He made this assertion during an interview on a Kumasi-based radio station.
Instead, he said some NPP members mocked him, gossiped about him and abandoned him.
According to Yandoh, NDC members unexpectedly called to comfort him and offered support during what he described as one of his lowest moments.
He said that experience changed his perception of the NDC.
“I never expected that. I thought the NDC were full of propaganda and never wanted anything good for the country,” he said in an interview.
Yandoh claimed that his political rivals’ gesture caused him to reconsider his stance and pleased him with their behavior.
“The way they reached out to me and showed me love has changed my mind set and the way I see the NDC,” he said.
