The Asante Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene intervened for the Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central when the MCE sought to respond to issues raised by some members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development.
A Ranking Member of the Committee, Mr. John Darko put it to the MCE, Mr. Solomon Kusi Brako that he had sought to reveal publicly a cheque he endorsed for the Member of Parliament in his area.
Mr. John Darko said that, the MCE attempted that using his social media page.
The MCE took those for allegations and wanted to respond but the Asante Regional Minister suddenly guided the MCE to consider that for reconciliation between himself and the MP in his area.
“Take it as advice but you can deal with it maybe 2028.” He admonished the MCE.
As he sought to respond, the Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Charles Akwasi Agbeve denied him the permission to do so.
He equally admonished the MCE to learn on the career if he wanted to work as a politician.
According to Deputy Chairperson, they all have access the MP’s Common Fund and take praises for promises they have fulfilled.
He therefore did not see the reason the MCE as a signitory should attempt to reveal the cheque.
Before, the MCE had told the Committee a few projects they had undertaken.
He revealed that they had generated ¢16,894,496 revenue mainly from stores the Municipality had built.
He assured the Committee they could raise ¢20,000,000 when the Chairperson asked about their capacity.
He continued that they had an effective revenue mobilization team which did the collection: he emphasized.
