A 38-year-old woman, Akua Serwaa, has been arrested by the police for dumping her day old baby in a public toilet at Baatea a community in the Jaman South of the Bono Region.
The baby has been rescued and Hospitalized at Berekum Holy Family hospital having received emergency care at a Health Center in Baano No.2 Community.

Emmanuel Kwame Nketia said it took the timely intervention of the community after mobilizing the youth to save the baby.
He said part of the public toilet was demolished before the baby boy was rescued.
The Chief of the Community beat the gong-gong and requested all women in the community to come out of their houses to help Police interrogate them. It was during this process that the suspect was fished out.
Explaining her action, the suspect, Akua Serwaa, told the local media that she has birthed 7 children with different men adding that the father of the baby refused to take care of her when she got pregnant hence the decision to dump him into the toilet.
Meanwhile, the Brekum Divisional Crime officer, Franklin Yevuga said, the suspect will be arraigned before court today Thursday.
