Five passengers have been confirmed dead while seven are in critical conditions in another gory accident which occurred at Gomoa Adam near Gomoa Anteadze on the Kasoa – Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace with registration number: GR 5059 – 20 from Kasoa heading towards Cape Coast and A Ford Transit bus with registration number GS 6031-20 also from Mankessim heading towards Accra
Medical Superintendent of Apam Catholic Hospital Dr. Paul Acha indicated that the 7 people who were in critical conditions have been stabilized however needed to be referred to bigger facilities for advanced healthcare but lamented that hospitals contacted say they have no space to admit the victims.
The latest accident happened less than 24 hours after a similar accident involved two Buses and Dad Articulated truck
The driver of the Toyota Hiace Vehicle which involved in the latest accident in the Central Region narrated that “We were from Kasoa heading towards cape coast all that we saw was the Ford Driver overtaking some vehicles which he collided with our vehicle so the impact suddenly turned our vehicle back to Kasoa direction which the Ford crashed at the roadside.”
The Apam District Fire Commander DO1 Adolf Ankomah Nuamah told Bryt FM Central Regional Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah that “It is very horrible. We received a distress call that a fatal accident has occurred so when we rushed to the scene we saw a Toyota Hiace and Ford Transit involved in the accident. The vehicles collided which trapped all those sitting in front of the vehicles. The two in front of the Ford Transit were dead so we extricated those in the Toyota Hiace first.it took us strenuous effort to remove them their legs and lower part of their bodies have been severally fractured so the Ambulance took them to Hospital.”
