Chairman and CEO of Zoomlion, Dr. Siaw Agyapong has received praises from President Akufo-Addo for his outfit’s continuous role in managing waste in the country over the past years.
He has, however, been charged to construct Waste managing sites in all the 16 regions of Ghana to assist government in making the country the cleanest in sub Saharan Africa.
Speaking at a sod cutting ceremony for construction of a Waste Recycling and Composite Plant in the New Juaben South municipality of the Eastern region, President Akufo-Addo stressed on government commitment to deal with waste the best way so as to help prevent the spread of diseases and infections.
He was of the view that, a clean and sound environment lead to good health which in turn help the people the strength to work hard for the development of the nation.
The minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Ceceilia Abena Dapaah indicated the need to take good care of waste in the country, hence the assurance to support private businesses to help manage waste well.
She said the Akufo-Addo led government is committed to deal with tonnes of waste generated daily in the country so as not to have health effects on the people and also to even make good use of it.
She showed appreciation to Zoomlion for supporting government to achieve it’s agenda of ensuring the country is clean as Accra is targeted to be the cleanest city in Africa.
Dr. Siaw Agyapong, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zoomlion outlined it’s preparedness to support government in the fight against waste and therefore assured to continue to have different innovations to deal with waste management across the country.
He stressed that, the facility when completed, would help solve waste challenges within the municipality and the region at large.
