A 34-year-old self- styled Public Toilet Manager in Mepom near Asamankese of the Eastern Region, Karim Fulani has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in hard labor by the Asamankese Circuit Court for attempting to commit a crime to wit Robbery causing harm.
Karim Fulani pleaded guilty when he was charged with two counts by the court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams.
The prosecution statement read in the court said the complainant is a farmer residing in Nsawam while the accused is also a caretaker of one of the public toilets in Mepom.
It said on 11/01/2020 at Mepom, the complainant, who was attending a funeral in the area met the accused who was standing at the public toilet and the complainant wanted to use the toilet but the accused directed him to a nearby bush without any reason.
The prosecution statement said the complainant was attacked by the accused and four others at large in the bush while he was easing himself.
The accused pulled a cutlass and slashed the throat of the complainant which left marks of violence around the throat. Few minutes after the attack, some people who were around chased the accused person and the four others and managed to arrest Karim and handed him over to the police for prosecution.
