The Police officer who went missing has been found dead.
The decomposing body of the 50-year-old Police Inspector -Charles Adamu was found floating on a river near his plot of land at the Asuboi area near Suhum in the Eastern region on Friday.
“In respect to the reported missing Police Officer Chief Inspector Charles Adamu has been found dead in a stream located in his land he visited on the 28th October 2020 this morning 6th November 2020. A joint operation mounted by Officers of Ghana Police Service from Ayensuano, Suhum, Nsawam Districts, Police headquarters, Accra and Ayensuano District Nadmo Operations led by the District Director Mr. Joseph Okai Gyan succeeded in retrieving the dead body around 1:45pm with all the items contained in his pocket intact including his cell phone” Kojo Minta an official with the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) told mybrytfmonline.com.
He said the decomposing body has been moved to the Police Hospital Morgue in Accra.
Investigations have commenced into the incident.
Background
The Police officer -Charles Adamu who is a driver at the Police Hospital in Accra reportedly went missing Friday, October 28, 2020, when he visited his plot of land at the Asuboi area in Ayensuano District.
His wife reported to the Police that her husband did not return to the house since that day.
Police investigators swiftly went to the scene and found a Police vehicle used by the missing officer parked at the roadside near his plot with the ignition key on and have since been taken to the Police station.
The local chiefs mobilized the youth to assist Police in searching for the body after the incident.
