A Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development who doubles as Member of Parliament for Akuapim South, Honourable Osei Bonsu Amoah is battling the seat with Mr. Afari Djan Wiston today.
Mr. Afari Djan Wiston is a 62-year-old Teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology.
In 2008, Honourable Osei Bonsu Amoah won the Aburi Nsawam Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NPP with 32,491 votes, representing 58.32%.
Nana Arku Arkrah, the NDC candidate also had 20,194 (36.25%) in 2008.
In 2012, Akuapim South Constituency was created by the Electoral Commission and O.B Amoah won again with 12,720, representing 49.73%, WILLIAM NTOW BOAHENE (NDC) 8,694(33.99%), ISAAC OPARE ADDO (CPP) 3,713 14.52% and MICHEAL ASANTE (PPP) 450 1.76%.
In 2016, OSEI BONSU AMOAH (NPP) had 14, 049, representing 52.78%, LAWRENCIA DZIWORNU (NDC) had 8, 417, representing 31.62% and ISAAC OPARE ADDO; CPP candidate had 4,153 (15.60%).
