An immediate past government appointee to the Council of State Paa Kofi Ansong has been elected representative of the Eastern region to the council.
The 60-year-old Biochemist and Businessman polled all 66 votes.
The other two contestants, Mr. Ernest Amemakuse, a 35year old teacher, and Mr. James Amanor Ossom 61year old farmer recorded zero votes each.
In a brief statement, Paa Kofi Ansong thanked the Assembly Members for giving him 100% of their votes and assured him that he would continue to serve Eastern Region and Ghana.
Present at the event was the Senior Minister Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo, Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour, Eastern Regional Minister-designate, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, New Patriotic Party Regional Chairman, Hon. Akomeng Kissi, Hon. Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, MPs, and some leading members of the NPP party from National and Regional offices.
