Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Command in the Western North Region has arrested a 59-year-old man for allegedly murdering his ex-wife.
The suspect, Kwabena Twene, is popularly known as Ebeyeyie a farmer who allegedly killed his ex-wife Rose Oppong popularly known as Afua Kye at Adiembra near Chirano in the Bibiani Anhwiaso-Bekwai.
The suspect was arrested at his hideout at Sefwi Dwenase in the Sefwi Wiawso municipality by three (3) policemen -Inspector John Appiah, Corporal Amos Nyaaba, and constable Bright Agbor at about 7:30pm to 8:00pm Tuesday.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Kontor Boateng of Lord Fm, Chief tenant Kwasi Nyamekye at the house where the murderer was arrested explained that they became suspicious of the man had heard of the incident on radio days before his arrival decided to interrogate him. Not satisfied with the answers decided to inform the police.
The suspect Kwabena Twene told the reporter that “I don’t have any grudge with her even though the lady has chopped my money. She said she has quit the relationship and also slapped me. So a spirit entered me then I hit me. I blame Satan for my act. I didn’t run I had wanted to report myself to the police.”
The Sefwi Bekwai District Police Commander stated he received the information from Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Command and has transferred the case to Bibiani Division because Adiembra does not fall within Sefwi Bekwai District.
“Yesterday around 7:00pm Sefwi Wiaso Divisional Police command has information that the suspect Kwabena Twene alias Obeyie was hiding somewhere and then-Police proceeded immediately and got him arrested”
