Public Relations Officer of True Drivers Union in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Barima, has reacted to “operation produce your driver’s license”, an initiative that is set to be introduced by the Ashanti Regional Police Command as part of the measures to ensure adherence to road traffic regulations.
The exercise has been scheduled to take off on Monday, February 3, 2020, the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police said in a statement.
However, the PRO of the Union said, “Operation produce your driver’s license which is set to hit the Ashanti region, is a great achievement by the police in their bid to ensure sanity on our roads but it cannot reduce road accidents. The government must construct dual carriage roads in other to reduce road carnage in the country” he stated.
In an interview on Dadi FM, Mr. Yaw Barimah attributed the rapid growth of road accidents on our various roads to poor road networks, and has, therefore, called on the government to construct deplorable roads to help reduce accident cases
He also, expressed worry about the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta, as he believes the minster has not performed up to the expectation since assuming office.
He entreated the government to take action in the quest to reduce road accidents in the country and also called on the public to support the fight.
