The President of the Prostate Doctor Foundation, Dr. Tony Badu says frequent sexual intercourse with ejaculation reduces the risk of prostate cancer among men.
According to him, “frequent sex lubricates the prostate. The prostate has to get active through lubrication. If you leave it dormant, it will just become big. You need to have frequent sex; it is very important “. Dr. Tony Badu said on Expressive show on GHone Tv.
Prostate cancer is the second most frequent cancer diagnosis made in men and the fifth leading cause of death worldwide.
Global Cancer Statistic estimates that 1.4 million new cases of prostate cancer and 375,000 deaths were recorded in 2020 worldwide.
Dr. Badu explains that prostate cancer is prevalent among Africans and African -Americans.
He said the situation is quite alarming in Ghana due to inadequate awareness.
Dr. Tony Badu explained that frequent urination, urge to urinate frequently at night, pain or burning sensation when urinating, blood in urine, and discomfort sitting as a result of pain from an enlarged prostate are some early warning symptoms.
He however said, 70% of persons with prostate cancer are asymptomatic, therefore, encouraged Ghanaian men to screen for the disease annually for early detection and treatment of the case.
He emphasized that limiting high-fat foods including red meats, increasing the intake of vegetables and fruits, and performing more exercise are ways to reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
