Three men have filed to contest for the Presidency position of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
The three men are; Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor of Atinka Media Village, Mr. Gayheart Mensah, a Media Consultant, and Mr. Dave Agbenu of the New Times Corporation.
Mrs. Linda Asante-Agyei of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), filed for the position of Vice President, while Mrs. Audrey Dekalu, also of the GNA, filed for the position of Treasurer.
Others are Mr. Kofi Yeboah-General Secretary, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman of the Multimedia Group-General Secretary, Ms. Mary Mensah of the Graphic Communications Group Limited-Organising Secretary, Mr. Dominic Hlordze of GBC, Organising Secretary and Mrs. Rebecca Ekpe of GBC, and Caesar Abagali of Ghana News Agency, both for Public Affairs Officer.
Founded in 1949, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has become the umbrella organization representing Ghanaian journalists. It is registered as a professional association and listed as one of several bodies on the board of the National Media Commission.
In the 2017 GJA Election, A total of 13 candidates are contested for the five national positions.
Mrs. Audrey Dekalu from the Ghana News Agency (GNA) was the only candidate who filed for the position of treasurer.
The three candidates contested for the position of president are Mr. Lloyd Evans, a media trainer, and consultant; Mr. Johnnie Aryeetey of Ghana Television (GTV) and Mr. Roland Affail Monney, a media consultant, was seeking re-election as president.
There are four candidates for the vice-president position: Mrs. Linda Asante-Adjei from the Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Tina Aforo-Yeboah of The Spectator, Francis Kokutse of Indo-Asian News Service, and Mathew Mac-Kwame, formerly of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
