Akyem Swedru Senior High School in the Eastern Region has recorded four positive cases of COVID-19 and 357 Schools had also recorded cases so far since students returned to school in January 2021.
Apart from this School, Achimota School in Accra also has 75 active cases, while in the Ashanti region, Asanteman Senior High has 26, Agona SHS-17 cases, KNUST-10 cases, Jacobu SHS-8 cases, University of Education-Kumasi campus- 6 cases, and Konadu Yiadom SHS-4 cases respectively.
Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma Abaogye, who announced this said as, on 13th July 2021, Schools in Bono, Bono East Central, and North East were not having any COVID-19 case, but in the Ahafo Region, there are two cases each at International School of Ahafo and Newmont site.
He said Volta Region has recorded the highest number of cases since schools were reopened with 512 cases and as of 13th July, active cases among students was 166 and cumulative total cases stand at 2,323 with 92.8% recoveries.
Giving details of Achimota School, Dr. Patrick Kuma Abaogye said a total of 1,173 students and staff have had samples taken and results available for 1,156 with 195 positive cases.
The Director-General said 157 of them are boarders, 32 are day students, and six staff with 120(75.5%) recoveries and active cases as of 13th July were 75.
