New Juaben Municipal Teacher’s Savings Association (NJMTA) has advised its members to develop lands they have acquired to help deal with issues of land disputes.
Mr Anti Aninakwa, Secretary to the Association gave the advice at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Koforidua over the weekend.
According to him, the Association is also expected to have a final verdict on a land issue before the law court in March 2022.
Speaking to the media, Mr Aninakwa urged members who are not ready to put up structures on their land properties or plant commercial crops so as to protect them from encroachers.
The Association issued a dividend of Gh26p per share for all of its 900 members despite the Bank of Ghana’s earlier directive against payment.
Meanwhile, Board Chairman of the Association, Mr F. A. Lartey indicated a fall in its finances attributing it to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic as most debtors who are mostly market women are experiencing low sales.
He, therefore, called on teachers who are mostly youth to join the Association as it comes with many benefits.
