The people of Poponya, a farming Community near Adjena in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern Region are the latest beneficiaries of the Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko’s the MP for the area “Operation get all Communities in Asuogyaman Connected by Road” initiative.
Construction of the new road to connect Ponponya to Adjena commenced on 21st December 2021.
The completion of the 5Km road construction would help facilitate transportation of farm produce from the Communities to market centers.
The Community had no access road hence residents including school children trekked on the footpath to market centers and schools.
The Asuogyaman Constituency deputy Communication officer of the opposition NDC Felix Koku Bonney said “With so much joy and jubilation across the village, the people were very grateful to the MP for the project and says this will be a great relief to them and especially school children who in the past had to either trek through the bush to Adjena or go by the Volta River to Sedorm to access education”
Opinion leaders in the community said”at least motorcycles and tricycles can now come and pick our children and wives to school and markets, we are happy about this”
Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko also thanked the people for their loyalty to him and the National Democratic Congress and said, the Road is his Christmas gift to them.
He also promised to do everything within his powers to build a school for the community to provide access to quality education for children in the fishing and farming community.
