H.E. Janos Ader, Hungarian President has visited Aburi in the Akuapem South Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The Hungarian President’s visit forms part of his official trip to Ghana from 12th January to 16th January 2022 to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
H. E . Janos Ader was accompanied by his wife, H.E. Anita Herczegh, the Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Támas Endre Fehér, and other High powered delegations from Hungary and the Embassy.
Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources who led the government delegation accompanied the Hungarian side to tour the Region.
In Hillburi Hotel at Aburi, the President and his delegation were received by the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong ushered them in for a private lunch. The Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem South, Hon. Frank Aidoo joined the Regional Minister to welcome the President and his entourage.
The team later visited Aburi Botanical Gardens to tour the Facility. It was observed that the former President of Hungary, H. E. Janos Kadar planted a commemorative Mahogany tree at the garden in 1973 to mark his official visit to Ghana.
The President ended his visit to the Region at Newill Academy, a private basic school located at Two Streams, a suburb of Koforidua, where he interacted with the management, teachers and pupils.
The bilateral relationship between Ghana and Hungary which commenced in the 1960s, has seen the two countries enjoy cordial relations and socio-economic development in the area of Education, Health, Agriculture and the adoption of a common stance on several global issues at International fora.
