The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency, Kingsley Agyemang, has called on security authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the shooting of a young man at Kyebi Zongo.
The call follows a viral video showing a confrontation between some youth and military personnel at Kyebi Zongo on Saturday, July 11, 2026, which resulted in the young man sustaining gunshot injuries.
In a viral video, the irate youth engaged in fierce confrontation with the military which escalated and triggered a military officer shoot one person in the led twice .
In a statement, the MP said the circumstances surrounding the incident must be properly investigated to establish the facts and ensure that justice is served.
Mr. Agyemang expressed sadness over the development, stressing that no community should witness incidents that threaten the lives and safety of residents.
He condemned all forms of violence and brutality, while urging the relevant security agencies to carry out an impartial inquiry into the matter.
The Abuakwa South legislator confirmed that the injured victim is currently receiving treatment at the Kyebi Government Hospital and wished him a speedy recovery.
He further appealed to residents, particularly the youth, to remain calm and exercise restraint while investigations are ongoing.
Mr. Agyemang assured the people of Abuakwa South that he will continue engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure peace, law and order prevail in the constituency.
