Two septuagenarian blacksmiths have been arraigned before Court in Koforidua Thursday for allegedly manufacturing and distributing firearms without lawful authority.
The two accused persons Richard Kwame Asare, 76, and Kojo Tetteh, 74, were arrested at Pakro near Adawso in Akuapem North Municipality.
Eight(8) single-barrelled guns, as well as six locally manufactured pistols retrieved by police, are serving as exhibits.
The arrest of the suspects will go long way to reduce armed robbery and other criminal activities in the region.
