There is relative calm and peace at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region following a visit by a high powered delegation from the Police National Headquarters in Accra led by COP Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Director of Police Administration.
The Police Administration together with the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu-Gyan, the Nkoranza Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Daniel Yaw Owiredu and NPP Executives met and sympathised with the families of the late Albert Kwasi Donkor the 28yr old businessman whose arrest by the Police and subsequent disappearance brought about the whole agitation as well as the family of Nineteen (19) year old final year Electrical Student of Nkoranza Technical Institute, Victor Kwadwo Owusu who also died from a gunshot during Tuesday’s protests.
The Delegation also visited the Nkoranza St. Theresa Hospital to check on the other victims namely; Augustine Duodu, Appiah Eric, Donyinah Rockson, Iddrisu Ismael and Baffoe Stephen who also sustained various degrees of injuries and are responding to treatment.
Addressing a Press Conference later in the evening at Nkoranza, Chief Superintendent Alexander Obeng, Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, revealed that five (5) people have so far been arrested in connection with the riots and one (1) person amongst those who broke out of cells has also been re-arrested for investigations.
He said all fifty-seven (57) old Police Personnel stationed at Nkoranza have been withdrawn indefinitely as Police from Accra and the Bono East Regional Command are now in charge of security at Nkoranza.
Meanwhile, the mother of late Albert Akwasi Donkor in the person of Maame Comfort Gyamea and the Uncle, Mr Augustine Donyinah appealed to the security apparatus to ensure justice is served for the deceased.
