Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, Member of Parliament in Tamale North has waved into the unfortunate incident at Suame when the MP for the area, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu was pelted with sachet water by some artisans.
The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs got an unpleasant welcome due to the poor state of some major town roads within the constituency.
The long-serving MP is been accused of not doing much to fix the poor roads amidst other pressing problems facing the well-known populated constituency.
Making a submission on TV3 New Day political show, Hon. Suhuyini said the Majority Leader received the ugly back clash due to the NPP’s failure to manage the economy, especially with respect to developmental projects in the region under the Akufo-Addo-led government.
According to the NDC MP, the Majority Leader has served as a scapegoat and must serve as a warning to the government that Ghanaians are generally not enthused with the current state of the economy.
He stressed the Ashanti region is known to be the ‘world bank’ of the NPP and that should send a strong signal to the government that “to whom much is given, much is also expected”.
“You see Bella, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is not a failure as been perceived because he is the longest serving MP who has experienced in parliamentary activities. The problem has to do with the poor performance of the government and it is unfortunate the Majority Leader has to pay dearly for that” Hon. Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini told Bella Mundi.
He added “I also think it is high time for those who wish to be parliamentarians to desist from giving unrealistic promises, especially when it comes to road construction. That is not the work of the MP so it is time for citizens to be aware of that”.
