Kybele, PATH and other partners that aim at transforming the lives of mothers and newborns launched the second phase of the “Making Every Baby Count Initiative” (MEBCI 2.0) at the hospital.
The initiative, funded by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), will improve care for preterm babies.
Present at the launch was the Eastern Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Winfred Ofosu, the Medical Director of ERHK, Dr Arko Akoto-Ampaw and the CEO of Kybele, Professor Medge Owen.
The CEO of Kybele in her opening remarks said her organization was delighted to embark on the project at the hospital.
The program is expected to run for 12 months under which some key staff will also be taught skills in quality improvement to facilitate the implementation of new skills and knowledge learned.
PATH will adequately equip the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and advocate for policies relevant to the advanced care of newborns in Ghana.
MEBCI 2.0 aims at drastically reducing neonatal morbidity and mortality rate.
