Despite mounting public dissatisfaction with his performance as finance minister, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence in Ken Ofori-Atta.
Although many have asked for the Finance Minister’s resignation due to alleged economic incompetence, the President claims that Ofori-Atta has what it takes to turn around the nation’s fortunes.
He claimed that by monitoring the Akufo-Addo administration’s earlier triumphs, Ofori-Atta had demonstrated his abilities.
“This same Finance Minister who people are calling for his blood is the very man who took us very successfully out of the IMF programme and helped us produce the 7 per cent rates of growth that we have before the COVID.”
“I believe that he has the same determination to work us out of this crisis as he showed at the beginning of our government,” the president added.
Additionally, President Akufo-Addo repeated his position that at this time, there was no need for a reorganization of his cabinet.
“When I am satisfied or someone is doing his work well or not doing his work well, I will act on it. If I am satisfied that the output is still strong, I will know what to do,” he said.
