The Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Seth Kwame Acheampong has indicated that the Region is benefiting from five Warehouses under the one District, One Warehouse Initiative.
He said the warehouses are at various stages of Construction at Upper Manya Krobo, Ayensuano, Fanteakwa North, Kwahu South, and Afram Plains South.
The Minister told the media during a press briefing at Accra that each warehouse would provide a storage capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes when completed.
The warehouse project is a component of the government’s Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
Warehouses are to be constructed in the 216 districts to handle produce and store the anticipated surpluses under the government’s Planting for Food and Jobs initiative and would not only minimize post-harvest losses but also improve the marketing of agricultural produce.
