The Ministry of Health has joined the world to commemorate the 2022 International Universal Health Day.
The event under the theme ‘Build the World We Want: A Healthy Future for All’ is to lift people out of poverty, promote the well-being of families and communities, protect against public health crises and move people toward health for all.
Essentially, to increase access to quality essential healthcare.
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Health Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari delivered a statement on behalf of the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu.
According to the World Health Organization, at least half of the people in the world do not receive the health services they need.
It is also estimated that 100 million people are pushed into extreme poverty each year because of out-of-pocket spending on health.
He also revealed that the Ministry of Health and its Agencies will take deliberate efforts to expand access to health infrastructure through the implementation of the Agenda 111 Flagship project, and strengthen the National Health Insurance Scheme to provide financial cover for the use of health services.
He assured the people of Ghana of the commitment of the Health Ministry, its Agencies and its Partners to work tirelessly to change the narrative and break barriers in the delivery of quality and client-oriented health services to the benefit of the people of Ghana.
