President John Dramani Mahama has assured the families of the eight people who lost their lives in last year’s military helicopter crash that the nation continues to share in their grief and will never forget the sacrifices of their loved ones.
Speaking at a remembrance ceremony marking the first anniversary of the tragedy on Wednesday, August 6, President Mahama said the pain of the loss extends beyond the immediate families, stressing that the victims belonged to the entire nation.
“Rest assured that the nation still mourns with you, and your loved ones did not die alone; they belong to all of Ghana, and we will continue to remember them,” the President said.
He acknowledged the enduring pain of the bereaved families, noting that while time may pass, the memories of those who died in service to the nation will remain alive in the hearts of Ghanaians.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to honouring the legacy of the deceased and ensuring that their dedication and sacrifice in the service of Ghana are never forgotten.
The remembrance ceremony brought together government officials, security personnel, relatives of the victims, and members of the public to pay tribute to the eight individuals who perished in the August 6 helicopter crash.
