The Volta Regional Fire Command of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has donated fire extinguishers to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs on behalf of the Chief Fire Officer at Ho in the Volta Region to court their support in the fight against bushfires in the region since firefighting is a shared responsibility.
The Volta Regional Fire Commander decried the intervention of some Chiefs who prevent culprits of setting bushfires from being prosecuted and urged the Chiefs to help fish out such miscreants for them to face the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
ACFO I Joy Ameyibor Ayim assured the Paramount Chiefs that Ghana National Fire Service is on call 24/7, alert and ready to protect and save lives and properties throughout the yuletide and beyond.
The Volta Regional Safety Officer, DO III Jatuat Nigam took the Chiefs through the operation of the fire extinguishers and urged them to adhere to the basic fire safety protocols religiously.
The Paramount Chiefs expressed their appreciation for the gesture and extended their support and determination to partner with the Chief Fire Officer to render the Volta Region safe from fire outbreaks.
