A flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress , Mr.Ernest Kwaku Kobeah , has indicated that his youthful age will play a positive part in emerging winner in the May primaries of the party.
According to the businessman who is 44 years old., Ghana has reached a stage where the youth are taking over and doing amazingly well at various leadership level and he falls in that category.
Despite other heavy weight aspirants which include former President John Dramani Mahama , Former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffour and Mr.Kojo Bonsu who is the former Mayor of Kumasi, Mr. Ernest Kobeah expressed optimism of winning the primaries.
He said his decision to run as a young man has encouraged other young people in the party to pick nomination forms to contest various parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the party which for him is encouraging.
In an interview with The Herald on February 28, 2023, Mr.Kobeah said his interaction so far with party people is yielding positive results and is hopeful things will turn out in his favour.
Asked what he will do If he does not win the primaries, he promised to still support the cause of the NDC, adding that he will bring all other aspirants onboard to work towards winning the 2024 elections if he wins.
Despite being a relatively less known member of the party , he told the paper that he is well known in the ‘Jesus Is My Saviour ‘ branch of the Weija- Gbawe constituency of the party.
For him, the bigger goal is to become the President of the country with the agenda of cutting down on waste and making savings on all government expenditures.
Asked how he will go about cutting down on waste, he said he has run a successful business and will let that reflect in his governance in such a way that only useful appointment and cost-effective expenditures are made under his presidency.
He therefore called on delegates to vote for him to become the flagbearer of the party , giving the assurance that he will not withdraw from the race like others did in the past after picking nomination forms.
So far , the Volta region , he mentioned has endorsed his papers and almost through with the Bono region also endorsing.
