Together with the Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund, the Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia joined the leadership of the Local Government Service to commission a new Office Block for the Office of the Head of Local Government Service in Accra on Wednesday.
The multi-storey edifice, completed in 20 months and financed by Government through the Office of the District Assembly Common Fund, is ample demonstration of Government’s commitment to promoting a local governance system responsive to the needs of the citizenry.
“With the creation of six new regions and many more districts and municipalities, it is expected that the Office of the Head of Local Government Service would strengthen local government structures, institute time-tested systems and processes, adopt modern practices in human resource selection, retention and capacity development, and improve the overall administration of the decentralized local governance system in the country” Dr. Bawumia stated.
