Member of Parliament for Assin-Central and also the Presidential Aspirant hopeful of the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has frankly stated that the late Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Philip Basoah was very bitter over how he was mistreated by the NPP.
According to him ,Philip Basoah used to complain to him how bad his own party was treating him but didn’t want to go public.
He believes this bitterness in the heart of the NPP which he failed to speak out might have led to his death.
“The late Kumawu MP was bitter but he never went public about how bad his own party treated him. Now that he is dead look at how they are scrambling for power .As for me I will talk …I am not scared of anyone “. He said in Koforidua.
A by-election is expected to take place today May 23,2023 at Kumawu constituency in Ashanti Region following the death of the MP.
Two candidates one each from NPP and NDC as well as two independent candidates making total of four are contesting the seat.
Kumawu is stronghold of the NPP.
in 2020 the late MP Philip Basoah, secured 14,960 which is 51.11%
Independent candidates Duah Kwaku
had 11,69 represented 39.96%
while Bernard Opoku Marfo of
NDC had 2,439 which was 8.33%
And Nana Amoako of GUM
174 also 0.59%.
