Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the national chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised party members that he will give them a president for Ghana in the 2024 election.
He claims that during his campaign for the party’s chairmanship, he made the firm and unbreakable pledge that if the delegates elected him as the National Chairman, he would provide them with a President in 2024.
Chairman Ntim said this when he addressed a gathering after the Presidential primary results were declared at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“Having delivered on your side of the bargain, by giving me a Flagbearer, I am reiterating my promise to you distinguish delegates that I am going to produce a President you in December 20123. That is what we are all looking up to, noting less than that.”
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia selected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate to lead the party to the general election in 2024.
In the nationwide presidential primary that took place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, he received 118,210 votes, with over 210,000 delegates casting ballots.
Ken Agyapong, the Assin Central Member of Parliament, was his closest opponent with 71, 996 votes.
The other candidates, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former minister of food and agriculture, and Francis Addai Nimoh, a former member of parliament for Mampong, received 1,459 and 781 votes, respectively.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will face former President John Dramani Mahama after his election. Mahama received the support of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) earlier this year.
