Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been praised by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for being a capable and prepared leader who is poised to lead Ghana to new heights.
The president appealed to Ghanaians to back Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign, pointing to his wealth of knowledge and distinct plan for furthering the nation’s progress.
At a meeting of professional associations in Kumasi on Sunday, November 24, President Akufo-Addo underlined how important the Ashanti Region is to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) electoral success.
He urged the region to support Dr. Bawumia and ensure success in the 2024 elections, warning against making the same alleged error that led to the NPP’s loss of power in 2008.
“We have two people who are in the race. One, a failed president and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. There are four other people who have had the blessing of the Almighty and the support of the people of Ghana to become presidents of Ghana.
“Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, John Dramani Mahama, and myself. Of all these, Jerry John Rawlings had a second term, John Agyekum Kufuor had a second term, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had a second term.
“The only one who was not given a second term was John Dramani Mahama and the reason is that he did a poor job”, he stated.
