The Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service in New Juaben South, Mrs. Eunice Aboaku, has launched the Network of Practice in Densuano sub-municipal and Medical Village.
This initiative aims to bring together private and public health facilities to improve healthcare delivery and make quality care more accessible to all.
According to Mrs. Aboaku, the primary healthcare system, which includes community health centers, has been weakened due to the preference for bigger hospitals.
To address this, the Ghana Health Service is working to strengthen primary healthcare by providing necessary logistics and support, according to her.
Speaking to Bryt fm reporter, she emphasized the reason the GHS is doing this is because it has a mandate on Primary, secondary and tertiary care
She said the the core mandate is equity to assure that everyone has access to health.
“The Network of Practice will initially focus on two health centers, Densuano and Medical Village, with plans to expand to all facilities in the municipality.
Mrs. Aboaku also emphasized on the importance of community ownership and engagement in making this initiative successful.
She noted that the goal is to achieve 80% coverage by 2030.
