Eastern Regional branch of Ghana Bar Association (GBA) which is a professional association of Lawyers on Friday, April 24, 2020, donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua.
The items donated are 40 pieces of safety coveralls, 80 pieces of N95 masks, and 500 pieces of face masks at a total cost of GHC 10,000.00
Making the Presentation, the Eastern Regional Chairman of GBA, Lawyer Kwasi Amoako Adjei underscored the need to support frontline health workers during a pandemic such as this, to motivate them to give of their best in managing cases to maximize recovery rate adding that one of such motivation is the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) which creates a sense of personal security for workers in the line of duty.
A surgeon at the Hospital, Dr. Foster Manu Amponsah who received the items on behalf of the facility described as timely the medical items donated particularly the N95 mask which is the hospital craves in large quantities.
The Acting Medical Director at the Eastern Regional Hospital, Dr. Cardinal Newton said, the donation by the GBA is a great encouragement to the health workers, therefore, assured that, as a Coronavirus Treatment Center in the Region, management will do its best to deliver quality healthcare to persons who would be admitted to increasing the rate of recovery.
Present during the donation was Mrs. Emily Addo-Okyireh, Chief State Attorney at the Attorney-General’s Department, Mr. Cyril Keteku, Regional Secretary of the GBA, Lawyer Isaac M. Larbi and a host of other lawyers.
Ghana has recorded 1,279 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 10 deaths and 134 recoveries. Out of the confirmed cases, Eastern Region has recorded 56 mostly among construction workers at Lower Manya Krobo Municipality. Fanteakwa North, Akuapem North, Denkyembour, and Nsawam have also recorded a case each.
