Franklin Cudjoe, an activist and political analyst, has cautioned NDC members not to ignore Haruna Iddrisu in light of the party’s expanding political discussions.
Franklin Cudjoe responded to Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s recent statements by stating that Haruna is still one of the party’s most powerful political figures, particularly in Northern Ghana.
He gave the former Minority Leader credit for mentoring a number of MPs who went on to become ministers and for keeping the NDC afloat during its years in opposition.
“He understands statecraft and how to win over opponents and friends,” Franklin wrote.
He claimed that during challenging political times, Haruna was crucial to the party’s continued existence in the Ashanti and Northern areas.
Franklin added that Haruna’s expertise and influence have led many to consider him as a potential presidential candidate in the future.
“Every NDC presidential hopeful needs a Haruna Iddrisu,” he said.
He concluded by telling those seeking to follow President John Dramani Mahama to focus on service and delivery rather than early political conflicts.
