The Government of Ghana has inaugurated the 4th Executive Council of the Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive (GAPTE), reaffirming its commitment to enhancing urban mobility and accessibility across the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area. Led by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the initiative signals a renewed focus on coordinated, sustainable, and efficient public transport systems.
The newly constituted Council is expected to champion innovative, inclusive, and environmentally responsible transport solutions, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and drive the transformation of mass transit services such as Aayalolo. With a clear mandate and strategic direction, the Council is poised to play a pivotal role in reducing congestion, improving commuter experience, and supporting Ghana’s broader development agenda, including the 24-hour economy policy.
