Former managing director of the State Transport Company (STC), Nana Akomea, has stated emphatically that he will stage a one-man demonstration if the GFA brings a foreigner to handle the Black Stars after firing Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars.
The GFA announced that it has cut ties with Otto Addo after Ghana lost international friendlies to Germany and Austria in March. In a statement, the Association congratulated him for his service and noted that the process of choosing a new coach has begun.
Nana Akomea responded by saying on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show that Otto Addo ought to have been given more time due to his role in Ghana’s World Cup qualification.
“He was the one who qualified the Black Stars for the World Cup, have we forgotten? These were just friendly matches; there was nothing at stake. You could have been patient,” he said.
Nana Akomea insisted that a Ghanaian should be in charge of the national team and threatened to hold a one-man protest if the GFA hired a foreign coach.
“Anyway, it has been done, but they should make sure they don’t bring a foreigner or else I’ll stage a one-man demonstration,” he added.
