Spokesperson and Communications Director of the Ministry of Energy, Richard Rockson, has expressed his sadness over the recent power outages but has assured the general public that engineers are working tirelessly to restore power.
Mr. Rockson further explained that a recent fire at the Akosombo Dam has caused significant damage, leading to power outages for Ghanaians over the past 72 hours.
“This is sad because of the damage that has been caused but all we can say is that the engineers are working against the clock to restore power”. He said.
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, he stated that so far there has been significant progress because the engineers have found a way to operate the Dam without going to a substation, which is genius.
“We are pleading with Ghanaians that what they are seeing now about the light over the last 72 hours is because of the substation of the Akosobo Dam that got burnt”. He disclosed.
Mr. Rockson added that this is not the time for politics so we should help the Government to be able to solve this problem within this week.
He is calling for collective effort and resilience from the nation.
“All I have to say is that, we should solve this problem together as Ghanaians, work together and endure together”. Mr. Rockson added.
