Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has accused Christians of being the reason behind the National Cathedral’s downfall, claiming that believers’ lack of dedication rather than corruption was the issue.
“The National Cathedral was not built, not because of corruption. I was right there. It was because we Christians are not serious,” he said while preaching to his church.
The Archbishop claims that Christians have neglected to consider the church’s destiny and what they ought to leave for future generations.
“We are not serious about posterity. We are not serious about the kingdom. We are a bunch of selfish, greedy people. It’s all about us. We don’t think about the kingdom,” he said.
Despite their benefits and possibilities, Duncan-Williams questioned the contribution that many Christians give to the church.
He suggested that instead of concentrating just on their own comfort, Christians should consider what they would leave behind for God’s mission.
“Think first, what contribution have you made to the kingdom?” he asked.
Additionally, he urged Christians to reflect on whether their life had resulted in anything that the church could use as a permanent memorial.
“Even the seat you are sitting on, or from the day you got born again up to now, all the offerings you’ve been given cannot even buy the chair you are sitting on,” he said.
